Nawaz Sharif Criticizes Pakistan’s Economic Situation and Its Leaders

Sharif highlighted the contrast between Pakistan’s economic challenges and India’s achievements. He noted that while Pakistan is struggling economically, India has made significant progress, including reaching the moon and hosting the G20 summit. Sharif questioned why Pakistan couldn’t achieve similar feats.

He mentioned that India had followed economic reforms initiated during his government’s tenure in the 1990s and emphasized the importance of economic stability and growth.

Pakistan’s economy has faced ongoing challenges, including high inflation rates and the need for financial aid. In July, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) provided financial assistance to Pakistan as part of a bailout program to stabilize its economy.

Nawaz Sharif also announced his plans to return to Pakistan on October 21 to lead his political party’s campaign in the upcoming elections. His return marks the end of his over four years of self-imposed exile. In 2019, he left Pakistan on medical grounds with the assistance of the then army chief, General Bajwa.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has planned a significant welcome for Nawaz Sharif upon his return to Lahore next month. His party aims to secure protective bail for him before his arrival.
