Google is Up and Running After a Brief Outage

Google services, owned by Alphabet Inc., faced a brief global disruption on Monday according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com. The website is back up and running again.

The real-time online platform Downdetector reported that the outage dropped to less than 500 incidents in the United States. Downdetector collates status reports from a number of sources.

At the peak of the outage, more than 30,000 user reports indicated issues with Google in the United States alone, as of 0130 GMT.

Users said that they were also experiencing problems with subsidiary platforms Gmail, Google maps, and Google images. All of these rely on Google’s search engine to operate.

A spokesperson for Google said that the team worked diligently and efficiently to address the error and services were back running as normal quickly.

“We’re aware of a software update issue that occurred late this afternoon Pacific Time and briefly affected availability of Google search and Maps,” they said.

“We apologise for the inconvenience. We worked to quickly address the issue and our services are now back online.”

Nearly 5,900 users reported problems in Japan, while the disruption was also witnessed in Canada and Australia.
