Saudi Arabia Advisory: The Indian Embassy in Riyadh urged nationals on Sunday, October 18, to follow the latest emergency directives from Saudi authorities. The advisory comes amid heightened security concerns following drone and missile attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The embassy shared the guidelines on social media.

What Citizens Have Been Asked to Do
People who receive alerts through Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies should stay calm and move to the nearest safe place inside a building. They should stay away from windows, balconies and rooftops and go to an interior room until the danger passes. Anyone outdoors should enter the nearest building or take cover behind a solid barrier.
The advisory also asks people to avoid crowded or hazardous areas. They are told not to photograph ongoing incidents. Residents should not leave their homes or buildings until the threat subsides, and the updated directives list emergency numbers for anyone in immediate danger. People outside the main cities can call 998.
The Riyadh Airport Strike
The advisory follows attacks attributed to Houthi rebels, including an October 10 strike near Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. It killed an Indian national and injured several others. The death has made the warning feel far more urgent for the large Indian community living and working in the kingdom.
Why This Matters for Indians in the Gulf
Saudi Arabia hosts one of the largest Indian expatriate populations in the world. Many families back home depend on workers there, so any security scare quickly becomes a concern in India too. The embassy has repeated its message of staying alert, sheltering when alerts sound and trusting official instructions over social media rumours.
