Houthis Attack Saudi Arabia: India Advises Nationals to Stay Alert, Air India Suspends Riyadh Flights

India has issued a security advisory for its nationals in Saudi Arabia amid an escalating situation following attacks claimed by Yemen-based Houthi forces. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has asked citizens to remain alert, stay indoors when necessary and follow instructions issued by Saudi authorities through official channels.

The advisory came after explosions were reported in Riyadh, including near King Khalid International Airport. The Houthis claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile attack targeting the airport, while Saudi authorities said missiles directed towards Riyadh were intercepted.

India Issues Advisory for Nationals in Saudi Arabia

The Indian Embassy urged all Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to exercise caution and remain vigilant as the security situation develops. Citizens were also advised to avoid circulating or reposting videos and news related to the ongoing incidents and to rely on official sources for updates.

The Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General of India in Jeddah continue to function normally. A 24-hour Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra helpline has also been made available to assist Indian nationals requiring support.

Air India Cancels Riyadh Flights Till October 10

Amid heightened security concerns, Air India has cancelled flights to and from Riyadh until October 10. Air India Express has also suspended its Riyadh services during the period.

An Air India flight travelling from Delhi to Riyadh was forced to return to Delhi after the situation at King Khalid International Airport developed. The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, according to reports.

Other airlines have also disrupted Riyadh operations following the latest security developments. The cancellations have affected international air travel and led to significant disruption at the Saudi capital’s airport.

India Condemns Attacks on Civilian Infrastructure

The Indian government has condemned recent attacks targeting Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport, describing attacks on civilian infrastructure as unacceptable. India also expressed condolences to those affected and solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

The latest developments have raised concerns over the safety of civilians and the continuity of air travel in the region. Indian authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and have advised nationals to follow official instructions as the security situation evolves.
