Indian High Commission intervened as Hindu-Muslim clash go violent in Leicester

Atleast two arrested in East Leicester post videos of clashes between two communities erupted. According to the statement shared by Leicestershire Police on its Twitter handle, “Two arrests were made – one man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder and one man on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. They remain in police custody.”

The High Commission of India had condemned the violence perpetrated against the Indian Community in Leicester and has sought immediate action against those involved in these attacks.

There were videos going viral on social media where a group of men were seen burning Hindu religious flags and vandalising temples in Leicester.

Post India – Pakistan cricket match during the Asia Cup on August 28, communal tensions flared up in Leicester, between members of the Indian-origin Hindu community and the largely Pakistan-origin Muslim community in the city.
