New Delhi: In response to explosions and gunfire in the capital city as paramilitaries and the regular army waged attacks on each other's bases, India's embassy in the African nation has asked Indians in Sudan to seek refuge. Twitter account of India in sudan tweeted, "NOTICE TO ALL INDIANS, In view of reported firings and clashes, all Indians are advised to take utmost precautions, stay indoors and stop venturing outside with immediate effect. Please also stay calm and wait for updates."
Violence broke out in Sudan on Saturday
After weeks of escalating tensions over the intended integration of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) into the regular army, military head Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy, paramilitary commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, violence broke out in Sudan on Saturday. Witnesses reported hearing loud explosions, gunfire, and "confrontations" close to an RSF base in south Khartoum.

After witnesses reported seeing truckloads of fighters entering the airport compound, the RSF claimed that its forces had taken control of the Khartoum airport. There were reports of gunfire near the airport, close to Burhan's home, and in Khartoum North. As artillery engagements shook the streets, civilians were reportedly spotted scurrying for cover, according to reports. The bridges across the Nile connecting Khartoum with Omdurman and Khartoum North were barricaded by troops. The entrance to the presidential palace was also blocked off.
