Infosys Sued in US Court Over Culture Bias in its Recruitment Policy

Infosys: The Bengaluru-based IT behemoth Infosys is being sued in a US court for culture bias after a former executive claimed in a lawsuit filed last year that the business had engaged in age, gender, and nationality-based discrimination in its recruiting practises.
According to reports, Jill Prejean, a former Vice President of talent acquisition at Infosys, claimed she received instructions not to hire individuals of Indian descent, mothers, or those over the age of 50.

Before the United States District court for the southern district of New York, she made the startling confession. In September of last year, Ms. Prejean filed a lawsuit against the business, its former leaders, and its partners.

According to the sources, in Ms. Prejean’s declaration, she expressed dismay at the “rampant culture of illegal discriminatory animus among the partner level executives based on age, gender, and caregiver status.”

During her first two months of employment in 2018, she allegedly “tried to change this culture,” but was greeted with “opposition from Infosys partners – Jerry Kurtz and Dan Albright.”

The IT behemoth submitted a move to dismiss the complaint made by the plaintiff, who also asserted that she was let go for defying the business’ allegedly unlawful demands when hiring top executives.
Infosys requested the dismissal on the basis that Ms. Prejean had not provided evidence to support her claims.

However, the court denied the application and ordered the business to respond within 21 days of the order’s date (September 30).
