iOS users to spend more than $8 as Twitter Blue relaunches next week

Twitter Blue: Twitter’s on-again, off-again subscription service is set to launch once more the next week after a number of aborted attempts. For iOS users, the service will cost extra, and it will also come with a system for platform-specific account authentication.

$8 per month over the web but $11 per month through Apple iOS

Customers may sign up for the revised service, which would cost $8 per month over the web but $11 per month through Apple iOS, according to the company.

After their accounts have been verified, subscribers will have the ability to modify tweets, upload 1080p videos, and get the coveted blue checkmark.

The checkmark will become grey for public bodies and gold for firms later this week, according to AFP.

The platform tweeted, “We’re relaunching @TwitterBlue on Monday — subscribe on web for $8/month or on (Apple’s) iOS for $11/month to get access to subscriber-only features, including the blue checkmark.”

Why iOS users are asked to pay more?

Twitter did not address why Apple users paid more than other internet users, but according to media reports, the company was looking for methods to equalise the costs of the App Store.

Twitter had initially launched Twitter Blue in early November before discontinuing it due to the rise of fraudulent accounts. After then, it was supposed to relaunch on November 29 but was delayed.
Musk cited a number of complaints with Apple last month in a series of tweets, including the 30% fee the iPhone manufacturer charges software developers for in-app sales.

Additionally, he asserted that the company stopped running adverts on the social networking site and that the platform had threatened to remove Twitter from its app store.

However, he tweeted that the misunderstanding regarding Twitter being removed from Apple’s app store had been resolved after meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook.
