Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were labelled “killers” of the Iranian people by Senior Iranian official Ali Larijani.

According to media reports, B-2 bombers and fighter jets were seen getting deployed at a US airbase in Qatar.

In another development, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian assured protestors that officials would pay heed to their legitimate concerns and demands. The Iranian President also presented an economic plan for the residents of the country to provide significant relief. Previously, Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei remarked that some “rioters” wanted to “please” Trump.

International calling and internet shutdown

Iran has shut down internet and international calls that have left more than 85 million people cut from the outside world. Elon Musk’s SpaceX has reportedly offered free Starlink services in Iran by waving the subscription fee. This would allow people with receivers in Iran to access service without making a payment, as per Ahmad Ahmadian, executive director of the US group Holistic Resilience.

On December 28, the unrest started after shopkeepers in Tehran protested against the growing inflation and fall of the Iranian Rial. Presently, one United States dollar is equivalent to 10,92,500 Iranian Rial.

In another development, White House envoy Steve Witkoff had a meeting with Iran’s exiled former crown prince, Reza Pahlavi.

Pahlavi has emerged as a rallying figure in the protests shaking the Islamic Republic.
