Iran US Tensions: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has escalated rhetoric against the United States and President Donald Trump by remarking that the Islamic Republic would sink all US Navy fleet within no time. Coinciding with renewed protests across Tehran, the statement of Khamenei raises serious questions about the strategic calculus of Iran and regional stability.
Iran US Tensions-The Threat In Context
Khamenei targeted US naval assets such as USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R Ford during his remarks. The message was amplified by the state media, highlighted the amazing capabilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including anti-ship missiles and fast-attack craft.
DON'T MISS
In another development, Steve Witkoff, the US President’s Special Envoy, has remarked President Trump has questioned repeatedly why the Islamic Republic hasn’t yet “capitulated” despite the military build-up by Washington in the Middle East.
Anti-government protests in the country against the regime of Aytalloah Khamenei have surged yet again at different educational institutions and universities. This marked a surge seen for the first time ever since the deadly crackdown in January that saw thousands getting brutally killed by the Iranian forces.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has commented that there is still a possibility that the US Iran talks could be successful.
