Iran is in grief and speculating over the sudden passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter accident, along with other important figures. Questions concerning the circumstances surrounding the accident have arisen, with some conspiracy theories pointing at Israel and its esteemed espionage service, Mossad, as the country struggles with the death of its leader.
Speculations and Conspiracy Theories Regarding Death of Iranian President
Following the tragic event, several speculations and conspiracy theories have surfaced, igniting a fierce internal power struggle in Iran. Some voices speculate that the accident may have been staged by enemies within or by outside forces.
Conspiracy Theory 1 - Enemies Within and Without
Raisi's long list of enemies within Iran, which includes disgruntled conservatives and marginalised moderates, is revealed by The Economist's report. Such internal divisions give rise to fears of possible domestic enemy retaliation. Additionally, it is impossible to completely exclude out Mossad's participation considering the long-standing hostility between Iran and Israel.
Conspiracy Theory 2 - Israel's Potential Role
The Economist report states that given the longstanding enmity between the two countries, Israeli participation may be possible. After Israel killed an Iranian commander in Syria last month, tensions almost reached a breaking point and Tehran launched a severe missile assault.
The report draws attention to Mossad's track record of executing rivals, particularly Iranian officials. Israel has already been connected to the killings of a number of well-known Iranian nuclear scientists over the years, states the report. The research does, however, minimise the possibility that Israel would carry out a bold move like assassinating a president, considering the possibly catastrophic outcomes.
Public Speculation on Social Media Hints at Mossad
On social networking sites like X, the potential participation of Mossad is a popular topic as hashtag mossad trends on X (previously Twitter). Numerous individuals are voicing their opinions, with some speculating that Mossad could have had a role in this terrible incident.
