Israel launched a surprise preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities early Friday, confirming fears of an escalating conflict in the Middle East. The move came hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump hinted that Tel Aviv could act soon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strike targeted Iran’s Natanz nuclear plant and Iranian scientists. He said, “The operation will continue for as many days as it takes,” signalling more attacks could follow.

Emergency Has Been Declared In Iran After A Preemptive Strike By Israel

Loud explosions were reported in Tehran soon after the Israeli strikes. Iran’s air defence systems were put on full alert. Local media suggested the blasts were near key military and nuclear sites.

Iran quickly declared a state of emergency, bracing for more attacks. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said, “Following the preemptive strike by the State of Israel against Iran, a missile and UAV (drone) attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate timeframe.”

A Reuters report (citing an unnamed Iranian official) said Iran now has enough material to build 15 nuclear bombs within days. This has only raised alarm about the region heading toward a full-scale nuclear war.

Was The US Involved In The Israel-Iran War?

US officials were quick to deny any role in the strikes. Senator Marco Rubio said, “We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.”

Rubio added that the US is in touch with its partners and taking steps to keep American personnel safe. Military units across the region are reportedly preparing for emergency evacuations.

President Donald Trump held an urgent cabinet meeting as the news broke. He had earlier commented, “An Israeli strike on Iran could very well happen,” but said he still hoped for peace.

Talks between the US, Iran, and Omani negotiators were already on shaky ground. A sixth round of discussions was planned in Oman over Iran’s uranium enrichment, but the attack has likely stalled any progress.

Oil markets responded quickly. Crude prices surged by more than $3 per barrel as investors feared wider instability in the region. With both sides on edge and diplomacy collapsing, fears of a nuclear war are growing by the hour.

Are We Headed For N-War?

Israel and Iran are now openly attacking each other. The chances of a nuclear war are starting to look real. A Reuters report says Iran has enough enriched material to build up to 15 nuclear bombs.

Talks between countries have also stalled. Both sides are on high alert, and more attacks could happen anytime. World leaders may want peace, but the situation is getting worse. A nuclear war no longer feels impossible.
