Hindu Temple in Canada: In Canada’s British Columbia, a Hindu temple was subjected to vandalism when Khalistan referendum posters were affixed to the main entrance of the temple during the late hours of Saturday night. During the early morning hours of Saturday, the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir located in the Surrey region of British Columbia experienced the incident. Prompt action was taken by authorities who swiftly removed the Khalistan referendum posters after their detection later in the morning.

Extremists put Nijjar’s poster

The poster read, “Canada investigates India’s role in June 18th assassination.” The poster affixed to the door also prominently featured a photograph of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Hardeep Singh Nijjar had held the position of the leader at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Sahib in Surrey, Canada. Tragically, he was murdered by unidentified individuals on the premises of the gurdwara in the evening of June 18. Nijjar had been the head of the separatist group known as the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF).

The Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey, which fell victim to vandalism, holds significance as one of the most substantial and historical Hindu temples in British Columbia. This incident marks the third occurrence of temple vandalism in Canada this year. On January 31, a notable Hindu temple located in Brampton, Canada, was defaced with anti-India graffiti. This act sparked strong indignation within the Indian community. At that time, Mayor Patrick Brown of Brampton openly criticized the incident, condemning the act of inscribing hate-driven messages targeting India onto the temple walls.
