Khalistani Protest: Posters inciting violence against Indian diplomats and missions are unacceptable, said External Affairs Ministry spokesman, Arindam Bagchi.He was referring to posters put up Khalistani elements on social media that directed violence against Indian diplomats.
“In the name of freedom of expression, space to the terrorist elements should not be given and we are very serious in resolution of this issue,” Bagchi said.

The spokesman also said freedom of expression doesn’t mean freedom of committing violence. Reacting to a recent statement from Canadian prime minister Trudeau, he said,” “We condemn this. We have taken up the issue with the Canadian government and have seen media reports about comments by Prime Minister Trudeau. The issue is not about freedom of expression, but its misuse for advocating violence, propagating separatism and legitimising terrorism.”
India’s tough comments come in the backdrop of a Khalistani poster that displayed pictures of Indian diplomats and portrayed them as the “face of terror.”
Khalistanis in the UK, Canada, Australia and the United States are planning a rally on July 8 in remembrance of a terrorist Harjeet Singh Nijjar. He was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Canada a few weeks ago.
Continued attacks
Over the past few months, Khalistanis have attacked Indian missions in the UK, Australia and the United States. A few days ago, they tried to burn down the Indian mission in San Francisco.
In March this year. Khalistanis brought down the Indian flag at the Indian High Commission in London.
India’s External Affairs Minister has condemned these incidents and has told the above-mentioned countries to stop the Khalistanis from attacking Indian missions and diplomats.
New Delhi has noted that the US has been prompt in taking action against the Khalistanis. Washington has said that any attack against Indian diplomats and missions is a criminal activity.
