Lashkar Handler Behind Pahalgam Carnage, TRF Executed Attack: NIA Chargesheet

The agency has termed the incident a calculated attempt to spread fear, disrupt peace and target civilians as well as security forces in the region.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has named a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handler as the key conspirator behind the deadly Pahalgam attack, while stating that the strike was executed on the ground by The Resistance Front (TRF), according to a chargesheet filed by the agency. The development sheds fresh light on the terror network operating behind the attack that shook Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the NIA chargesheet, the attack was part of a larger cross-border conspiracy, with operational guidance and logistical support allegedly provided by a Pakistan-based Lashkar handler. TRF, considered an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, carried out the execution to give the attack a localised cover while maintaining ideological and operational links with the banned terror outfit.

Investigators have detailed how the accused coordinated recruitment

Investigators have detailed how the accused coordinated recruitment, movement of terrorists, weapons supply and reconnaissance before carrying out the attack in the Pahalgam area, which is a major tourist hub in south Kashmir. The agency has termed the incident a calculated attempt to spread fear, disrupt peace and target civilians as well as security forces in the region.

The chargesheet underscores the continuing threat posed by proxy terror outfits and their handlers operating from across the border, even as security forces maintain heightened vigilance in Jammu and Kashmir. Further investigation into financial channels, overground workers and digital communication used in the conspiracy is ongoing.
