The Washington Post gained access to 'Top Secret' intelligence leaks last month that raise questions about the development of a possible Chinese military base at a port close to Abu Dhabi's Khalifa port.

Khalifa Port is a component of China's People's Liberation Army's (PLA) grandiose plan to build a global military network through its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project, according to documents that were posted on Discord and included a map of other proposed Chinese sites.

This is important in China's eyes because it will help it counteract the US and expand its influence in the Middle East. By 2030, the campaign hopes to have at least five overseas bases and ten locations for logistical assistance, which will help the BRI project.

The documents also detail China's 'Project 141' plan to build naval and military bases in East and West Africa, Central Asia, and South Asia.

Chinese PLA intends to use "Project 141" to set up a global network

The Chinese People's Liberation Army intends to use "Project 141" to set up a global network of military outposts in Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, Equatorial Guinea, and Mozambique. According to the records, two of these outposts are now being built, one is already up and running, and the other two are waiting for clearance.

Washington intervened to halt building after US intelligence agencies found evidence of continued construction at Khalifa Port, which they considered to be a secret Chinese military facility in the United Arab Emirates.

The Emirati administration was also warned by officials that a Chinese military presence there may be detrimental to bilateral relations, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). Construction has reportedly stopped as a result of multiple talks and visits by US officials, according to recent reports.
