Lebanese PM Hasan Diab resigns along with his entire cabinet

Beirut: The Lebanese Prime Minister Hasan Diab announced the resignation of his entire government on Monday after the devastating explosion in Beirut.

The government was facing outrage from the public and they also demanded the cabinet to step down. PM Diab announced the resignation of his entire cabinet on live television while addressing to the nation.

The highly explosive material was at the warehouse of the Beirut’s port for the last seven years which was the “result of endemic corruption” by the government in power.

“Today, we follow the will of the people in their demand to hold accountable those responsible for the disaster that has been in hiding for seven years, and their desire for real change,” he said. “In the face of this reality. I am announcing today the resignation of this government,” said the Lebanese PM Hasan Diab.

Diab accepted the allegations by the Lebanese and urged for a fair trial against him if the people’s perspective collides with the government.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun accepted the resignation but he asked them to play as a dummy until the next cabinet is chosen.

The deadly port warehouse blast of 2,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate left behind 6,000 people injured and killed 163 people. The Diab’s government was formed in January 2020 with the support of the powerful Hezbollah group and its other allies.
