Mojtaba Khamenei-Is Supreme Leader Sidelined?

Political and military leaders have stopped visiting the Supreme Leader on fears that their courtesy visits could lead to Israeli tracking and potential strikes on Mojtaba Khamenei. Presently, the treatment of Mojtaba is being overseen by the Iranian health minister and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is a heart surgeon.

According to media reports, one of Mojtaba’s legs has been operated on three different occasions and he may now be forced to use a prosthetic. Mojtaba’s arm has undergone surgery and regaining function gradually now. The Supreme Leader finds it difficult to speak as his lips and face have been burnt severely, requiring plastic surgery.

This is the primary reason why Mojtaba is only issuing written statements as he doesn’t want to sound weak or vulnerable due to his poor physical health. This has resulted in diminishing influence of clerics and growing influence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also known domestically as Pasdaran or Sepah.
