Indian Deportation: It may seem to many Indians that it is the United States that is sending the most Indians back. However, data provided by the Foreign Ministry has revealed that Saudi Arabia leads the list of nations that have deported the most number of Indian nationals worldwide from 2021 to 2025.
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh stated in a written reply that there can be many reasons for deportation and detention of Indians living abroad. This can include absconding from the employer, facing of civil or criminal cases, overstay beyond validity of visa or residency card, violating labour regulations, etc.

The Indian Mission in Riyadh indicated that 8,887 Indians were deported in 2021, followed by 10,277 in 2022, 11,486 in 2023, and 9,206 in 2024. This year, 7,019 Indian deportations have happened so far.

The Indian Mission in Washington DC indicate that the numbers were 805 in 2021, 862 in 2022, 617 in 2023, 1,368 in 2024 and 3,414 in 2025.
Other countries that deported a large number of Indians include Myanmar (1,591), the UAE (1,469), Malaysia (1,485) and Bahrain (764).
