New Twist in US Iran War: Houthi-Saudi Tension Take Brent Oil Past $100, Another Fuel Crisis in the Making

Rising Houthi–Saudi tensions have pushed Brent crude above $100, raising fresh concerns about oil supply disruptions and a possible fuel crisis.

The US Iran War has become even more dangerous due to new threats from the Houthi forces attacking Saudi Arabia, which puts even more pressure on the already unstable oil market. Brent crude rose above the $100-per-barrel level because of the increased threat to the oil infrastructure and maritime trade routes.

New Houthi attacks increase the risk of instability

As the US Iran War continues to destabilize the situation, Iranian-supported Houthi forces start new attacks against Saudi Arabia. It was announced that the attacks hit both cities and energy installations of Saudi Arabia, which pose additional risks related to the important alternative oil export channel. It came after the previous attacks and attempts to hijack ships in the Strait of Hormuz, where the wider conflict disrupted the regular maritime traffic. There are serious concerns that the situation will cause further disruption of the crude supply routes.

Brent crude moves above $100 per barrel

Brent crude surpassed the $100-per-barrel level for the first time since July amid the increasing problems in the region. On September 10, it soared to around $107 per barrel, while US crude also reached $100 per barrel. This movement is especially important because the oil market experiences serious supply constraints.

Could another fuel crisis be emerging?

Higher crude prices could eventually translate into increased petrol, diesel, jet fuel, and transportation costs. This could add to inflationary pressure for consumers and businesses across countries that depend heavily on imported energy. The biggest concern now is whether the latest oil-price surge remains temporary or develops into a prolonged energy crisis. With tensions spreading across multiple fronts, any further disruption to major oil routes could keep Brent prices elevated and create wider economic pressure.
