Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the alleged cross-border military operation dubbed “Operation Sindoor”, a controversial statement by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has sparked widespread ridicule online. Speaking in Pakistan’s National Assembly, Asif claimed that the Pakistani military did not intercept Indian drones during the operation because they “did not want to reveal their own location.”

His remarks, intended as a justification for Pakistan’s lack of military response, have been widely circulated on Indian social media with many users branding the explanation as “illogical” and “comic relief during serious times.”

Public and Social Media Reactions

Indian journalist Madhurendra Kumar shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), tagging it under the ongoing #IndiaPakistanWar thread and calling it a form of “comedy from the Pakistani Parliament.” The quote — "We didn't intercept Indian drones because we didn’t want to expose our own location" — has since gone viral, drawing thousands of reactions and memes.

Netizens compared the statement to "reverse logic", accusing Pakistan’s defence leadership of incompetence and inconsistency. Many Indian users used the hashtag #OperationSindoor, mocking Pakistan’s claimed denial and its defensive explanation.

Context of the Statement

The remark comes days after India reportedly conducted targeted strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), although official Indian authorities have remained silent about any confirmed operation. However, Pakistani media has acknowledged airspace violations and drone presence, increasing the political pressure on the ruling establishment in Islamabad.

This isn’t the first time Khawaja Asif’s statements have made headlines. Known for his blunt yet controversial tone, Asif has faced criticism in the past for undermining Pakistan's own military capabilities during international confrontations.

As the geopolitical situation continues to evolve, such statements may further strain Pakistan’s internal credibility and embolden Indian diplomatic and defence narratives on global platforms.
