Pakistan: Lieutenant General Asim Munir to be appointed as the new Army Chief

Pakistan: On Thursday, Lieutenant General Asim Munir was selected to lead the Pakistani Army. Munir has previously worked for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Lieutenant General Asim Munir will replace General Qamar Javed Bajwa

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, whose term is set to expire on November 29, will be replaced by him. Following a three-year extension, Bajwa announced his retirement. He had given up on trying to get another extension.

Meanwhile, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chose Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza to serve in that capacity (CJCSC).
