Pakistan News: Pakistan is said to have increased its military capability near the India border by placing SH-15 self-propelled howitzers made in China, which has become a source of interest for defence analysts and security experts. Pakistan is in the process of upgrading its artillery through advanced weapons bought from China, raising concern among defence analysts regarding the security of the region.

Pakistan stations Chinese SH-15 Howitzers

Pakistan has stationed SH-15 155mm truck-mounted howitzers near the India border. Designed by China’s NORINCO, the SH-15 howitzer is an artillery system designed for rapid mobilization and precise firing. The artillery is mounted on a highly mobile truck chassis, allowing the howitzers to move after firing, thereby making them harder to spot.

Why is the SH-15 significant?

The SH-15 is regarded as one of China‘s modern artillery systems and is capable of firing standard and extended-range 155mm ammunition. Defence experts note that its mobility, digital fire-control system and rapid deployment capability make it suitable for mountainous and border regions. Pakistan has been expanding defence cooperation with China over recent years, acquiring fighter aircraft, air defence systems, drones and artillery platforms as part of its military modernisation programme.

What could this mean for India?

The reported deployment does not indicate an immediate conflict, but it highlights Pakistan’s continued efforts to upgrade its military infrastructure near the border. Security analysts believe such deployments are intended to strengthen operational readiness and provide greater flexibility in the event of any future escalation. India closely monitors military developments along its borders and continues to modernise its own artillery capabilities, including the induction of indigenous systems and upgraded long-range weapons.

Regional security remains in focus

Pakistan News: The latest military activity comes at a time when both countries continue to maintain a high level of vigilance along sensitive border sectors. While no official indication suggests an imminent military confrontation, developments involving advanced weapon systems often attract close scrutiny because they can influence the strategic balance in the region.
