There has been an attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. A guard posted at the Pakistani embassy was injured in the attack. Reports said that Pakistan's Acting Ambassador Obaid Nizamani, who was present at the embassy at the time of the attack, is safe. A preliminary investigation by the Taliban claimed that the shots were fired from a building adjacent to the embassy. Following the attack, Taliban security personnel have surrounded the embassy and the surrounding areas are being searched. So far none of the attackers has been caught. The reasons for the attack on the embassy have also not been disclosed.
PM Shahbaz Sharif furious over the attack
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has condemned the attack on the Pakistani embassy. He tweeted that I condemn the cowardly attack on the head of Pakistani mission in Kabul. I salute the brave security guard who was shot to save his life. Wishing the security guard a speedy recovery. I demand immediate action against the culprits who perpetrated this heinous act. However, the Pakistani Foreign Office has not released any update related to this attack yet.
Pakistan will evacuate its staff from Kabul
According to Pakistani media reports, the Pak government is planning to evacuate some of its employees from the embassy in Kabul. This includes mission chief Obaid Nizamani and the injured SSG guard. The SSG guard has received three bullet injuries in the attack.
Since the Taliban's occupation of Afghanistan, there has been a tussle between Pakistan and the Taliban. There is a serious deadlock between the two sides on many issues. First of all, the dispute started between Taliban and Pakistan regarding the Durand Line. Then there were violent clashes between the Pakistan Army and the Taliban at many places. After that, the Taliban had also lodged a strong protest against the action of Pakistani army by entering inside Afghanistan. The Taliban had threatened Pakistan of dire consequences.
Taliban is also angry with Shahbaz Sharif's statement
The top Taliban leader is also not happy with the statements of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In the same year, while addressing the United Nations General Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif had described Afghanistan as a base of terrorists. He had said that terrorist incidents are increasing in Pakistan due to the situation in Afghanistan.
