PM Modi US visit: In a shoutout to significant individuals in US establishment of Indian origin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the role played by the community in different fields of art, science and artificial intelligence. “There are millions in the US who have roots in India and some of them sit in this chamber," PM Modi said. "One of them is sitting right behind me" he added, pointing towards US Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris is the first woman and person of Indian origin to hold the office of vice president.
What is Samosa Caucus?
The term refers to group of elected officials in US Congress with their ancestral roots traced to South Asia, especially India. As of 2023, there are a record 5 House of Representatives of Indian Origin in the lower chamber of the United States Congress. During his address PM said " "I am told that Samosa Caucus is now the flavour of the House. I hope it grows and brings the full diversity of Indian cuisine here.” PM Modi nodded his approval to the words of Joe Biden by stating that India-US partnership will be the defining partnership of the century.

'They are brilliant in every field'
PM Modi lauded Indian-American community for their contribution in different fields and even credited them for playing a major role in Indo-US partnership. PM Minister Modi said ""They are brilliant in every field and not just Spelling Bee" as he was thunderously cheered by the House. He added "Today, India and the US are working together, in space and in seas, in science and in semi-conductors, in start-ups and sustainability, in tech and in trade, in farming and finance, in art and artificial intelligence, in energy and education, in healthcare and humanitarian efforts."
