Russia-Ukraine War: Russia Blames UK for “Involvement” in Naval Drone Strike in Crimea

Russia-Ukraine War: Britain has been charged by Russia with “involvement” in a drone strike attempt in Crimea.
The unsuccessful Ukrainian invasion was allegedly “trained” and “supervised” with assistance from “specialists” from the UK, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

“The Kyiv regime carried out a terrorist attack against the ships of the Black Sea Fleet and civilian ships that were on the outer and inner roads of the Sevastopol base. The attack involved nine unmanned aerial vehicles and seven autonomous maritime drones,” In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed.

“This terrorist act’s planning and the 73rd Marine Special Operations Centre’s military training were overseen by British specialists,” the statement read.

The allegations haven’t received a response from Britain yet.

Additionally, Russia claimed that members of the British Navy were involved in planning and organising the attack on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea on September 26.

The fleet’s command centre and the logistics centre for operations in Ukraine is Sevastopol, which is located in the Crimean peninsula that Moscow has annexed. Sevastopol has been attacked numerous times recently.

At an airstrike early on Saturday morning in the port, the Russian army claimed to have “destroyed” nine airborne drones and seven maritime ones.

The military of Moscow said that the ships targeted at their base in Crimea were a part of an agreement facilitated by the UN to permit the transfer of Ukrainian foodstuffs.

Russia had lately criticised the agreement, claiming that Western sanctions had hurt its own grain shipments.

Russia is using pretexts, according to Ukraine, to destroy the grain corridor.

“Russian efforts to sabotage the Black Sea Grain Initiative have been forewarned of by us. Moscow is currently blocking the grain corridor, which provides millions of people with food security, using a fictitious justification. I urge all nations to put pressure on Russia to end its hunger games and fulfil its obligations, “Dmytro Kuleba, the foreign minister of Ukraine, tweeted.

Later today, Russia decided to discontinue its participation in the historic agreement that permitted Ukraine to export necessary amounts of food, citing drone strikes in Crimea as the reason.

The Sevastopol governor who was appointed by Moscow described the drone strike on Saturday as the “most enormous” the peninsula had ever seen, according to news agency AFP.

As Kyiv proceeds with a counteroffensive in the south to recapture territory held by Moscow for months, attacks on Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014, have risen in recent weeks.

Kherson, which is located near Crimea, has been governed by Moscow-installed officials who have sworn to fortify the city in anticipation of an impending attack.

Early in October, a blast that President Vladimir Putin blamed on Ukraine destroyed the bridge in Moscow connecting Crimea to the Russian mainland. The bridge had been personally opened by Putin in 2018.

A drone had also attacked the Russian ship stationed in the port in August.
