Russian forces fire on civilians in Ukraine, 1 killed, 7 wounded

Russia Ukraine war: Russian forces fired on the Ukrainian city of Kostiantynivka on Thursday, killing one person and injuring seven others, according the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office. According to the prosecutor’s office, Russian forces used artillery and Uragan multiple rocket launchers to attack the city of Kostiantynivka and many settlements.

The bombardment also hit “the railway station, market, and residential buildings,” according to the office. According to the prosecutor’s office, the woman who died was 50 years old and lived in Pivdenne, where one other person was injured. Six additional individuals were hurt at Kostiantynivka, including one Pole, according to the report. According to the prosecutor’s office, shell pieces damaged more than 30 residential properties.

Russia initiated its “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and the country has already lost thousands of lives and property. Previously, Poland’s President Andrzej Duda stated on Thursday that his country will supply Ukraine with four MiG-29 fighter jets in the coming days. Warsaw has led NATO allies in transferring heavy weapons to Kyiv, including Soviet-designed fighters. “When it comes to the MI-29 aircraft, which are still flying in Polish airspace defence, a decision has been made at the highest levels, and we can confidently announce that we are sending MIGs to Ukraine,” Duda added.

Poland to replace old planes with South Korean FA-50s and American F-35s

“We have a dozen or so MIGS that we obtained in the 90s passed down from the German Democratic Republic and they are functioning and play a part in the defence of our airspace. They are nearing the end of their operating lives but remain active,” he noted. “In the coming days we will give over four planes to Ukraine, the remaining equipment are being serviced and prepped for handover. “We will replace them with South Korean FA-50s and American F-35s,” Poland’s president declared.
