Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has once again stirred controversy with his latest statement on India. In a viral video circulating on social media, Afridi claimed, "Bharat khud hi apne logon ko marwata hai" (India itself gets its own people killed). The comments have drawn widespread criticism, with many slamming the former cricketer for spreading misinformation and deflecting blame from Pakistan’s own terror-related issues.

Afridi's remarks come at a time when India is mourning the loss of soldiers and civilians in terror attacks orchestrated by Pakistan-backed militants. Instead of acknowledging Pakistan’s role in fostering terrorism, Afridi attempted to shift the narrative, leaving many outraged at his insensitivity and misplaced allegations.
The video rapidly went viral across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook, with users from India and abroad condemning Afridi’s irresponsible comments. Many pointed out that instead of introspecting on Pakistan’s internal chaos and its reputation as a terror hub, Afridi continues to engage in baseless propaganda against India.
Comments flooded social media, branding Afridi’s statement as "shameful", "ignorant", and "deeply insensitive". Some users remarked that such irresponsible public statements from sports personalities only deepen the divide and promote hate, while others demanded that celebrities should refrain from making political comments without understanding the ground realities.
This is not the first time Shahid Afridi has courted controversy with his comments on India. Over the years, he has repeatedly made provocative statements regarding Kashmir and India’s internal matters, often earning sharp rebukes from Indian politicians, celebrities, and the public.
Analysts say that Afridi’s continued rhetoric reflects a larger pattern among some Pakistani figures, who, instead of fostering dialogue and peace, indulge in blame games to divert attention from Pakistan’s deteriorating internal situation.
