The 2024 uprising began as student demonstrations and expanded into nationwide protests that ultimately led to Hasina’s resignation and departure from Bangladesh. While Hasina maintains the movement was part of a planned regime change, many protesters and political observers have described it as a mass popular uprising against her government.
