Sydney Church Stabbing: A bishop and several others were reportedly stabbed during a church service in Sydney, Australia, on Monday, adding to the city’s recent spate of violent incidents. The attack occurred just two days after a mass stabbing incident in a busy shopping mall.

According to reports, the clergyman stabbed has been identified as Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel.

Video footage of the incident captured a clergyman being attacked during a ceremony at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, western Sydney. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as individuals attempted to intervene while screams echoed through the church.

New South Wales police swiftly responded to the incident, arresting a man who had been removed from the church premises. Fortunately, none of the injured sustained life-threatening injuries, and they were promptly treated by paramedics before being transported to the hospital.

Charbel Saliba, Deputy Mayor of Fairfield City, described the bishop as a respected figure within the local community, underscoring his influence and goodwill.

The incident follows a recent tragedy on Saturday, where six people were killed and several others injured, including a nine-month-old baby, in a stabbing attack at Westfield Bondi Junction. Australian authorities revealed that the attacker, Joel Cauchi, may have specifically targeted women, with five female victims among the fatalities.

As investigations into both incidents continue, Australian authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid the affected areas.
