UK: As worries about a syphilis outbreak in Europe have grown, some adult film actresses in the UK have quit their jobs. According to a report by the Independent, the adult film actors are requesting that a union be founded in the UK.
Syphilis produces skin sores and rashes and is spread through sexual contact. Antibiotics can treat the bacterial infestation though.

However, syphilis can cause serious problems if left untreated, including the irreversible alteration and impairment of internal organs and brain function.
Porn artists in Europe have reportedly had “several positive syphilis tests,” according to PASS, which maintains a database of sexual health certificates for US adult actors. The group expressed concern about the “potential for many more exposures, including among performers located in the US”.

Former actor Lianne Young claimed that professional porn actors she has recently spoken to have quit their jobs as a result of growing syphilis fears.
Films that were scheduled to be shot have been halted, according to Lianne Young.
She said, “Profiled professional entertainers are afraid. Money is being lost in large amounts. Europe has received a serious alarm. Since transatlantic porn production and performance are common, STIs can spread internationally.
