US: An unknown shooter opened fire from a rooftop on Tuesday, injuring two police officers in Newark, New Jersey. The shooter was reportedly carrying a rifle and was actively firing at law officers, according to the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).

Police officers in tactical gear are seen conducting a search on neighbourhood streets in the footage that the FOP posted. Additionally, police cars were observed obstructing local routes.

Phil Murphy, the governor of New Jersey tweets:
Phil Murphy, the governor of New Jersey, said he is keeping a careful eye on the evolving situation. “I’m in contact with the local government, and the state is supplying the needed resources. We’ll keep assisting the local police in their efforts to keep everyone safe” he tweeted.
The two injured police officers were sent to a hospital for medical attention.
