US Election 2020

Over 90 million Americans have voted early in the US Presidential election, breaking all records. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Joe Biden have continuously held their presidential campaigns across the country to woo the remaining voters. With just two days left until the election day, the voting has now surpassed two-thirds of all ballot in cast in comparison 2016 presidential election.

According to a survey of election officials in all 50 states and Washington DC by CNN, Edison Research and Catalist, these votes represent about 43 per cent of the registered votes nationwide.

The intensified interest in the contest is mostly driven by hope of improvement in currently deteriorating covid-19 situation in the US.

Spike in covid-19 cases at busy Election Day voting on Tuesday have also compelled people to come out and vote by mails or early in-person polling sites.

Sixteen states have already recorded more than half of total registered voters cast ballots ahead of the Election Day.

As of Friday, states like Texas and Hawaii have surpassed their total turnouts from the 2016 general election.

Thirty-five states and Washington, DC, have crossed their halfway marks for total 2016 ballots cast, including 13 of CNN's 16 most competitively ranked states — Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Wisconsin, Maine, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Nebraska, a CNN report said.

While in-poll voting has intensified across the country, Trump has made blatant claims that mail-in ballots are suspectible to fraud and results available on election night should count.

"I don't care how hard Donald Trump tries. There's nothing - let me say that again - there's nothing that he can do to stop the people of this nation from voting in overwhelming numbers and taking back this democracy," Biden said at a rally in Flint, Michigan, where he was joined by former President Barack Obama.
