US Israel Iran War: 45-Day Ceasefire Option Being Explored, Markets In India Crash! Would Oil Prices Surge To $120 Anytime Soon?

US Israel Iran War: A potential ceasefire of 45 days is presently being discussed by the United States, Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran amid a volley of deadlines thrown at Tehran by the United States President Donald Trump. Global markets including Indian markets crashed after fears of further escalations emerged. Brent Crude is presently trading at $111 a barrel and many believe that the mark of $120 a barrel is not too far.

Mediators from Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan are participating in the ongoing negotiations. This involves communication via sent text messages between Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff.

US Israel Iran War-Ceasefire Plan?

According to media reports, the proposed ceasefire would follow a two-phase approach. For the first phase, a 45-day ceasefire would happen during which mediations for bringing a permanent end to the ongoing US Israel Iran war. For the second phase, an agreement to bring an end to the Iran war that started on February 28 this year would be entailed.

Donald Trump remarked that the United States is in deep negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and a deal is likely before April 7, 2026. Trump warned that Tehran should sign the deal at the earliest else the United States would open a series of lethal attacks on power, energy, civilian and other infrastructure in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In another development, Witkoff has been blamed for influencing the selection process for the United States ambassador to Russia. The post has stayed vacant since June 2025 after the tenure of Lynne Tracy came to an end. The Daily Mail reported that search for a suitable candidate has dragged on for years as the ambassador’s views must align in line with the views of US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff.
