'Work In Progress': Denmark Minister On Extradition Of Purulia Arms Drop Case

Denmark Foreign Minister Lars Loke Rasmussen on extradition of Purulia arms said it is not a political matter and I am told that progress is being made. Lars Lokke Rasmussen on Tuesday said the extradition of Kim Davy, prime accused in the Purulia arms drop case, was a "work in progress".

"When I visited India back in 2019, in my previous capacity as PM, we talked about it. We had in-depth discussion at the political level and we agreed this is not a political topic," Rasmussen said.

On 17 December 1995, a cache of illegal weapons were dropped from an Antonov AN-26 helicopter in Purulia district of West Bengal.

Speaking on the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark said that we can establish an arrangement between Europe and India that will increase relations and trade. He said that if this happens both India and Denmark will be benefited.

Rasmussen said that Denmark is a small country, but I am proud to say that we are a prosperous country and we have achieved this prosperity by trading with other countries. He said that we are facing a geopolitical situation due to the Corona epidemic, the growing dominance of China and the Ukraine war, which can take us backward. We don't want that. In such a situation, if any methodology is made to promote relations and trade between India and Europe, then both the parties will benefit from it. He added that this is something that Denmark advocates.
