World's tallest Woman: Six seats removed in airplane as Rumeysa Gelgi flies for the first time

World's tallest Woman: Rumeysa Gelgi, who is known as world's tallest woman, boarded a flight for the first time, and that didn't come easily as the airline had to remove six seats to accomodate her.

Rumeysa Gelgi was recognised as the tallest woman in the world by Guinness World Records last year. Rumeysa stands 7 feet, 0.7 inches tall. According to reports, Turkish Airlines modified one of its aircraft in September so that she could fly to San Francisco. Six seats were removed, and their place was taken by a special stretcher that allowed her to travel on the 13-hour flight.

Because of her tallness, which is a result of a disorder called Weaver syndrome that also causes bone overgrowth, Gelgi, 24, has never been able to take a flight before. According to the sources, she was too big to fit in aeroplane seats even as a young child.

Due to her illness, she usually moves around in a wheelchair or walker. On Instagram, Gelgi posted a number of pictures of herself travelling and said that it had been "a flawless journey from start to finish."

“This was my first flight, but it certainly won't be the last. From now on, I will be very honored and happy to fly to different parts of the world with @turkishairlines. A heartfelt thank you to every single person involved in my journey," she wrote.

According to the sources, Gelgi traveled to California in order to spend time developing software and working with Guinness World Records.

Before officially becoming the tallest lady in the world in 2021, Gelgi claimed her first Guinness World Record in 2014, when she was acknowledged as the tallest teen in the world. She also holds the record of the longest finger, longest back, and largest hands of any lady in the world.
