Xi Will Support India In Organising SCO Summit Next Year

The SCO Summit 2022, Shanghai Summit, released in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is going to be even more special next year, because the next time the SCO will be chaired by India. This means next year this summit will be held in India. China and Russia have congratulated India on becoming the SCO President for the next year. In the SCO Summit held in Samarkand, Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated India on assuming the next chair of the SCO and said that we will support India in hosting the summit next year.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated India for the SCO Presidency and wished India success. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on Friday, stressed the need for a flexible supply chain to deal with the food and energy security crisis and said that India’s economic growth rate this year is 7.5 percent. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and leaders of other member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) addressed the regional security situation and trade and trade at the organization’s annual summit in Samarkand on Friday. PM Modi and Xi met in the historic city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan for the first time since a standoff on the border between India and China broke out in eastern Ladakh about 28 months ago. However, no clear information has been given about whether there will be any bilateral meeting between PM Modi and Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit.

Apart from India, Russia and China, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and other leaders of Central Asian countries are also participating in the SCO summit. The summit of this influential group of eight countries is taking place at a time when geopolitical turmoil has been caused by Russia’s attack on Ukraine and China’s aggressive military stance in the Taiwan Strait. After two years due to Covid-19, such a summit of SCO is being held, in which the leaders are personally present.

The SCO was started in June 2001 in Shanghai and has eight full members, including the six founding members China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan joined it as full members in 2017. SCO has emerged as one of the largest inter-regional international organisations. Iran is likely to be given the status of a permanent member of the SCO at the Samarkand summit.
