Ukraine Russia War

Volodymyr Zelenskyy: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with President Joe Biden on ‘processes taking place in Russia.’

"I spoke with US President Joseph Biden. A positive and inspiring conversation," the Ukrainian President tweeted.

"We discussed the course of hostilities and the processes taking place in Russia," Zelenskyy said in a tweet. The Ukrainian President also said that he discussed long-range weapons with Biden.

White House confirmed these talks.

What are these processes?

Last week, PMC Wagoner rebelled against Moscow and vowed to topple President Putin. Many observers of the Russia-Ukraine conflict credit Wagoner for occupying the Bakhmut area in eastern Ukraine.

Russia observers say this revolt has exposed chinks in President Putin’s leadership.

“It was a direct challenge to Putin’s authority,”said US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to a television channel.

This paramilitary mercenary force which has 50,000 fighters, has accused the Russian Defence Minister and the Chief of General Staff of not supporting it.

Wagoner’s chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has accused Russia of killing its 2,000 fighters during the Ukraine offensive. However, no evidence was given by Wagoner’s head to back his claims.

A video showed Prizhogin in the headquarters of Russia’s Southern Military District. He was seated with two senior generals of the Russian army.

Wagner’s revolt was defused a few hours later after Belarus got involved and helped Prizhogin get amnesty from Moscow, says ABC(Australian Broadcasting Corporation).

According to ABC, “The Russian government said Mr Lukashenko had offered to mediate, with Mr Putin's agreement, because he had known Mr Prigozhin personally for around 20 years.”

Wagner forces pull out

Reuters has reported that PMC Wagner’s forces have pulled out of Rostov-on-Don, the military headquarters of the Southern Military District.

Moscow says, “Mr Prigozhin would move to Belarus and Wagner fighters who joined his "march for justice" would face no action, in recognition of their previous service to Russia.”
