World leaders congratulate President-elect Biden, Trump refuses to concede

Congratulations are in order for US President-elect Joe Biden as leaders from all over the world telephoned him. While the global leaders look forward to establish resourceful relationship with the 46th president of the United States, top diplomat Mike Pompeo has emphasised that Trump would remain in power.

On Tuesday, Biden received congratulatory calls from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel for winning the presidential election.

“I’m letting them know that America is back. We’re going to be back in the game. It’s not America alone,” Biden told reporters in his home state of Delaware.

The transition team has said that Biden plans to work with Europeans on covid-19 as they also grapples from Covid-`19 fear.

Biden praised Merkel’s leadership and said that they would together be working for r “revitalizing the trans-Atlantic relationship, including through NATO and the EU.”

Johnson and Biden talked for 20 minutes. Johnson later tweeted,”promoting democracy and building back better from the pandemic,” employing the slogan from the Democrat’s campaign.

Meanwhile, Trump keeps refusing to concede and has vowed legal challenges, alleging fraud in the elections. “There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,” Pompeo said in a sometimes testy news conference.

Biden, on the other hand, insisted that he is all set to transition into the White House. “We are already beginning the transition, we are well underway, and the ability for the administration in any way the failure to recognise our win does not change the dynamic of what we are able to do,” Biden said while addressing a press conference at Wilmington, Delaware.

called President Donald Trump’s refusal to concede his election loss an “embarrassment” but dismissed the standoff calling it “unimportant”. “I just think it’s an embarrassment, quite frankly,” Biden said

“How can I say this tactfully? I think it will not help the president’s legacy,” Biden added. “The fact that they’re not willing to acknowledge we won at this point is not of much consequence in our planning,” Biden said.
