Punjab News— The Punjab government is set to launch a special campaign to fill a 4% quota of posts reserved under Section 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016. This initiative will apply to both direct recruitment and promotion schemes across various state departments.

Dr. Baljit Kaur, Punjab’s Minister for Social Security, Women’s and Child Development, announced on Wednesday that the government had identified these vacancies during roster verification in all state departments. The identified posts include 1,721 available for direct recruitment and 536 for promotion across various departments, corporations, and boards.

Dr. Kaur stated that the social security department had communicated with other offices to confirm and verify this backlog information. This data will be forwarded to the subordinate services selection board for recruitment purposes. To date, 87 offices have responded with their backlog information, with the maximum number of backlog posts found in the Health and Family Welfare, Director of Public Instruction (Elementary), and DPI (Secondary) departments.

This campaign underscores the Punjab government’s commitment to ensuring equal employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and addressing the backlog in reserved posts. The effort aims to enhance inclusivity and provide significant employment opportunities for the disabled community in Punjab.
