PM Modi Flags Off Aunta–Simaria Bridge With Nitish Kumar, Giriraj Singh In Attendance, Here’s How It Will Boost Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, inaugurated the Aunta–Simaria bridge over the River Ganga, establishing a direct road link between Mokama and Begusarai.

PM Modi: August 22, 2025, in Patna. The Aunta–Simaria bridge project over the Ganga was opened on Thursday by PM Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The bridge creates a straight link between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai, which makes it much easier to get around Bihar.

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, and Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sinha and Samrat Choudhary were among the important people who attended the opening. The project was called a “game-changer” for trade and transportation in the area by officials.

A boost to connectivity in the region

People traveling between Patna and Begusarai should be able to get there much faster with the Aunta–Simaria bridge. Before the bridge, people often had to wait because there weren’t many places to cross the Ganga. The new infrastructure makes travel safer and easier for everyone, from people who commute every day to people who use public transportation for business.

According to a Bihar government official, this bridge will improve the economic and social connections between districts. This will make it easier for people and businesses to trade and journey. The project fits in with the state’s long-term plans to improve transportation and boost the economy through infrastructure development.

Effects on the economy and society

By linking important areas, the bridge will increase trade, help local companies, and make jobs available in nearby areas. Manufacturing and farming in Begusarai will be able to get to markets in Patna and beyond more quickly, which will cut down on transportation costs and supply times.

Also, residents will have easier access to healthcare and educational facilities, which will help social growth as a whole. Better connections should bring more tourists to the Ganga area, which will help Bihar’s economy even more.

Importance of Strategy

Officials said that the Aunta–Simaria bridge is part of the government’s larger plan to update Bihar’s infrastructure so that cities can connect with trade hubs and rural areas. The project shows that the state wants to improve area growth and make transportation networks work better.
