Television actor Ashish Kapoor was recently arrested after a 24-year-old woman from Delhi accused him of rape. The case has taken a new turn as Kapoor has underwent a medical potency test at AIIMS, which police say is key evidence in the investigation.
Ashish Kapoor Rape Case: Medical Test Will Be Crucial
According to ANI, the potency test was done on Friday and will be an important part of the case. The Delhi Police said, “This report will be used as crucial evidence against him in the alleged rape case.”
A senior police officer told Hindustan Times that Kapoor had been avoiding arrest. “The team has been looking for him. He was earlier traced to Goa, but when the team reached, he slipped away. He was then traced to Pune, where he was found living with a friend and was arrested on Tuesday,” the officer said.
Complainant’s Changing Statements
In August, a 24-year-old woman, who works at a private company and lives in Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh, filed a complaint. She said she was drugged and gang-raped at a party. She alleged that drugs were mixed in her drink, which made her lose consciousness before she was assaulted.
At first, she accused Kapoor, his friend who hosted the party, and two unknown men of raping her. She also claimed that a woman attacked her and that the accused filmed the incident, threatening to leak the video if she reported it.
Later, the woman changed her statement, saying Kapoor alone raped her. Because of this, the case that started as gang rape will now be changed to a single charge of rape, police said.

He made his debut in 2010 with Shhh… Koi Hai and went on to act in shows like Dekha Ek Khwaab, Saraswatichandra, and more. His role as Yuvraj Udayveer Singh in Dekha Ek Khwaab made him popular among TV viewers.
He was also part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (YRKKH) when Hina Khan and Karan Mehra were lead actors. In the show, he played the role of Naitik’s sister Rashami’s husband.
