In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, successfully dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module linked to Pakistan. The Counter Intelligence Unit of Amritsar Police conducted an intelligence-led operation, apprehending five operatives involved in smuggling sophisticated weapons and narcotics into Punjab.

During the operation, authorities recovered six advanced pistols, including Glock and Px5 models, along with 1 kilogram of heroin and ₹6 lakh in drug-related money. The preliminary investigation indicates that the accused operatives were acting under direct instructions from Pakistan-based handlers. Their primary role was to supply these arms and narcotics to criminals and gangsters in Punjab, fueling unlawful and terror-related activities in the state.
An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar Police. Further investigations are actively ongoing to uncover the entire network, focusing on both backward and forward linkages involved in this organized crime and narco-terror module.
