PM Kisan Yojana: In today’s time, the PM Kisan Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana) has become one of the most important schemes for Indian farmers. Under this scheme, the central government provides financial assistance to eligible farmers in three installments every year. So far, 20 installments have been released, and farmers are now eagerly waiting for the 21st installment. However, in addition to this, farmers should also know that the government provides them a pension through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PMKMY).
What is the PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana?
The purpose of the PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana is to provide social security to small and marginal farmers during their old age. Under this scheme, eligible farmers will receive a minimum pension of ₹3,000 per month after reaching the age of 60. At the time of enrollment, the farmer’s age must be between 18 and 40 years.
Farmers need to contribute just ₹100 per month, and the central government will contribute an equal amount towards the pension fund. It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme, where enrolled farmers will start receiving the pension after turning 60.
When Was the Scheme Launched?
The PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana was officially launched by the Prime Minister on September 12, 2019. The aim is to provide small and marginal farmers with financial support in their old age, especially since they often do not have sufficient savings for their livelihood after retirement.
Who Is Eligible for the Scheme?
– Small and marginal farmers with up to 2 hectares of cultivable land.
– Age between 18 to 40 years at the time of enrollment.
– Land records of the relevant state or union territory must show ownership.
When Will the Pension Be Paid?
Since the pension benefits are given after the farmer reaches 60 years of age, they need to contribute regularly for a minimum period of 20 years. After completing the contribution period, they will be eligible to receive the fixed pension of ₹3,000 every month.
How to Apply for PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana?
Farmers can apply for this scheme at the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC). The required documents for application include:
– Aadhaar Card
– Bank Passbook
– Land Record Documents
Once the application is submitted, farmers will receive a unique pension number. They will then contribute a fixed amount every month and remain part of the pension scheme until they start receiving benefits at 60 years of age.
This pension scheme is a significant step toward providing financial security to small and marginal farmers. It not only helps them with regular income but also ensures a secure future during old age.
Thus, PM Kisan Yojana and PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana together are playing a crucial role in improving the life and livelihood of Indian farmers, offering them stability and dignity in their golden years.
