Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced significant relief measures for flood-affected villages in the state. During a press conference, the Chief Minister stated that floodwaters in several areas have receded, and the government is launching a large-scale cleaning operation to normalize public life.

CM Mann informed that the government will arrange JCB machines, tractor-trolleys, and laborers in every village to remove debris caused by the floods. Following the cleanup, fogging operations will be carried out in each village to prevent the spread of diseases.

For this massive campaign, the government has allocated a budget of ₹100 crore, out of which ₹1 lakh per village will be provided as a token grant, with additional funds available as required. The Chief Minister assured that the entire cost of the cleaning operation will be borne by the Punjab government. The target is to complete debris removal by September 24-25 and to clean all public spaces by October 15.
CM Bhagwant Mann emphasized the collective fight against natural disasters and highlighted the state’s commitment to restoring Punjab. He announced that medical camps will be set up in all 2300 affected villages, and in 1707 villages, medical staff and doctors will remain permanently available at public locations designated by the villagers. Additionally, 550 ambulances will be provided by the government for emergency support.
Regarding livestock, the Chief Minister said approximately 2.5 lakh animals in 713 villages have been affected by the floods. To prevent diseases among animals, the government has already deployed teams of veterinarians in every affected village. He also mentioned that market arrivals of produce had already begun 15 days ago, and government procurement started on September 16.
CM Mann expressed confidence that Punjab will overcome this crisis soon and return to normalcy. He added that the government machinery’s work to repair damaged infrastructure has already begun. Vaccination campaigns and medical camps are actively running to prevent any spread of disease among humans and animals.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to immediately contact local authorities in case of any health-related problems.
