The teaser of Haq is out, and it promises a powerful courtroom drama inspired by the historic Shah Bano case. Starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, the film reimagines the 1985 legal battle with gripping dialogues and high drama.
Yami Gautam Gives Goosebumps With Her Powerful Act In Haq Teaser
Yami plays Shazia Bano (a fictionalised version of Shah Bano). From the start, she leaves a mark in the teaser as she declares, “I’m fighting for my haq, my rights.” Her character’s fight is shown as a journey for dignity, faith, justice and equal treatment under the law.
Emraan Hashmi plays Shazia’s husband who opposes her in court. In one intense exchange, he tells her, “Had you been a true and righteous Muslim, a loyal and dutiful wife, you wouldn’t have done such things.”
Shazia gives a firm response, “I’m not just a Muslim woman, but a Muslim woman of Hindustan. I belong to this country, and that’s why the law should treat me the same way it treats the rest of the people in this country.”
The teaser brings emotional and hard-hitting moments that capture the essence of the story.
Sharing the teaser on X, Yami wrote: “A fight for dignity, justice and for what’s rightfully hers – #HAQ! Inspired by the landmark Supreme Court Judgement of Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum. In cinemas on 7th November, 2025.” Fans praised her choice of strong roles and her performance in socially relevant films.
Directed by Suparn Varma, known for The Family Man, Rana Naidu, and The Trial, the film mixes courtroom drama with social themes.
