In a major step towards making Punjab “vibrant, healthy, and future-ready,” Fortis Healthcare has announced an investment of ₹900 crore for expanding its campus in Mohali. Industries Minister Shri Sanjeev Arora said that this investment will add over 400 new beds and create a world-class Centre of Excellence spread across 13.4 acres — making Punjab a new hub for medical care, employment, and modern facilities.
Thanks to the state government’s proactive approach, Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann’s vision and strong leadership, this unprecedented investment by Fortis will create over 2,200 new jobs for the state’s youth along with thousands of indirect employment opportunities. The project will directly employ more than 2,500 people, giving Punjab’s youth a strong start in the future healthcare industry.
The expansion will include state-of-the-art ICU, cardiology, oncology, organ transplant, robotic surgery, and over 40 super-specialty facilities. The existing Fortis campus already provides the highest quality services in the region with 375 beds and 194 ICU beds. Through strong Public-Private Partnership, the state government has decided to make Punjab a global hub for health and medical care. Under this vision, multi-specialist hospitals have been started not only in Mohali but also in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, and other districts, so that every citizen gets excellent medical care near their home.
Fortis Healthcare has invested over ₹1,500 crore in Punjab since 2013 and has built a network of modern, world-class hospitals across the state. There is a 259-bed super-specialty campus in Ludhiana, and leading health services are also being provided in Amritsar and Jalandhar.
This investment plan is proof of Punjab’s “Sehatmand, Rangla Punjab” vision coming to life — where every citizen has access to timely, affordable, and excellent health services. Health Minister Shri Sanjeev Arora said, “The Punjab government is committed to complete transformation in healthcare and is continuously investing and improving to provide world-class facilities to the state’s citizens.”
After the Punjab government passed the Hospital PPP Act, several pilot projects are starting in the state through private and government cooperation, which has improved medical resources, new technology, and availability of doctors. The direct benefit of this will reach common people in the form of free or affordable services.
The development of this medical hub will give not just Mohali but the entire Punjab a new identity in medical tourism, and in the coming years, Punjab will become a leader in healthcare innovation. With this investment by Fortis, Punjab will emerge as North India’s largest and strategically important healthcare center.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has started over 800 Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state, free medicines, and free 38 types of diagnostic services — which has improved Punjab’s ranking in the health sector and every citizen of the state is benefiting from “affordable, timely, and quality” medical services.
This partnership between the Punjab government and Fortis Healthcare will prove to be a milestone in building a healthy, advanced, and prosperous Punjab for the future – and Punjab’s strength, resilience, and health will become an example for all of India and the world.
