Bhagwant Mann praises Punjab Police for busting cross-border arms smuggling module linked to Pakistan

The DGP further informed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full nexus, including both backward and forward linkages of the smuggling network.

In a significant achievement for Punjab’s law enforcement, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann lauded the Punjab Police after the Amritsar Rural Police successfully busted a cross-border arms smuggling module with links to Pakistan. The operation led to the recovery of a cache of sophisticated weapons from village Ghonewal under Police Station Ramdas, near the Ravi river close to the Indo-Pak border.

According to DGP Punjab, the recovery included 2 AK-series assault rifles with 8 magazines, one pistol (.30 bore) with two magazines, 50 live cartridges (.30 bore), and 245 live cartridges (7.62 mm). The alert and swift action by the police has averted a major incident, especially in light of recent intelligence inputs about increased activity of Pakistan-sponsored terrorists and inter-gang rivalries in border districts.

The DGP further informed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full nexus, including both backward and forward linkages of the smuggling network. The Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling organised crime networks and ensuring the safety and security of the people of Punjab.
