Veteran Kannada actor Harish Rai has passed away at the age of 55 after a long battle with cancer. He was best known for playing Khasim Chacha in Yash’s KGF franchise. The actor is survived by his wife and two sons. His death has left the Kannada film industry in deep sorrow.

The news was confirmed by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who paid tribute on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote in Kannada, “The passing away of Harish Rai, the renowned villain actor of Kannada cinema, is an extremely sorrowful event. The film industry has become poorer with the death of Harish Roy, who was suffering from cancer.”

He added, “In films including Om, Hello Yama, as well as KGF and KGF 2, Harish Roy had acted wonderfully and attracted everyone’s attention. I pray that his soul attains peace and that God grants strength to his family and loved ones to bear this loss. Om Shanti.”
Harish Was A Familiar Name In Kannada Cinema, Played THIS Role In KGF 2
Harish Rai rose to fame in the 1990s with his role in Shivarajkumar’s cult classic Om. The film remains one of the most celebrated in Kannada cinema. Over the years, he appeared in several popular movies (including Samara, Bangalore Underworld, Jodihakki, Raj Bahadur, Sanju Weds Geetha, Swayamvara and Nalla).
Known for his strong screen presence, Harish could switch easily between emotional and intense roles. His natural acting style and powerful dialogue delivery made him a favourite among both directors and fans.
