The Girlfriend Vs Haq Box Office Collection Day 9: Rasmika Mandanna And Yami Gautam’s Films See Weekend Growth Despite Competition From New Releases – Check Earnings

Check the Day 9 box office collection of The Girlfriend and Haq. Rashmika Mandanna and Yami Gautam’s films saw some weekend growth amid competition from new releases.

Two films faced stiff competition at the box office on their second Saturday, yet both managed to show modest gains. The Telugu drama The Girlfriend and the Hindi film Haq posted growth on Day 9, even as new releases entered theatres.

The Girlfriend Vs Haq Box Office Collection Day 9

The Girlfriend earned around Rs 1.70 crore on Day 9, pushing its nine-day total to approximately Rs 14.00 crore. The film had collected about Rs 12.30 crore after eight days. Meanwhile, Haq added Rs 1.15 crore on Day 9, taking its nine-day total to roughly Rs 15.80 crore (a little more than Rashmika Mandanna starrer).

The jump on the second Saturday is noteworthy. The Girlfriend saw its earnings rise from Rs 1.00 crore on Day 8 to Rs 1.70 crore on Day 9, reflecting positive word-of-mouth. Similarly, Haq grew from Rs 0.65 crore on Day 8 to Rs 1.15 crore, showing a healthy weekend bounce.

Both films are holding their own despite a crowded release calendar. The Girlfriend benefits from a strong regional (Telugu) audience, with Day 9 occupancy at around 37.45%. With a wider Hindi release, Haq recorded about 26.65% occupancy on the same day.

However, the numbers also highlight the challenges ahead. While the weekend growth is encouraging, total collections remain modest compared to bigger releases. The Girlfriend’s nine-day tally of Rs 14 crore and Haq’s Rs 15.80 crore mark them as steady performers rather than breakout hits.

Critics and audiences have praised The Girlfriend for Rashmika Mandanna’s “career-best” performance and its emotionally charged storyline. Haq relies on a strong cast, including Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, and its broader Hindi market push. Its Sunday bounce and second-weekend growth will be crucial in determining long-term success.

In the coming days, both films will depend on sustained audience interest. Regional markets will be key for The Girlfriend, while Haq will need consistent performance in national circuits. Despite the weekend boost, both films are yet to recover a large portion of their budgets, making a “hit” verdict unlikely.

About These Films

The Girlfriend is a Telugu romantic drama exploring the toxic “alpha male” trope in modern relationships. Rashmika Mandanna plays Bhooma, a postgraduate student navigating a suffocating relationship with the possessive Vikram. The film tackles emotional abuse, generational trauma, and women’s struggles for independence, all while subverting the typical “damsel in distress” narrative.

Haq is a Hindi courtroom drama inspired by the landmark 1985 Shah Bano case. Yami Gautam plays Shazia Bano, a woman fighting for maintenance rights after a triple talaq divorce. Her personal struggle evolves into a social and legal battle, challenging patriarchal norms and religious conservatism. Emraan Hashmi plays her husband, Abbas, adding depth to the conflict between faith, ego, and human rights.

While both films centre on strong female protagonists, they approach their stories differently. The Girlfriend examines personal, intimate struggles within a modern relationship, while Haq addresses historical legal battles with nationwide social implications.
